Why this blogging series exists
I am starting this series called “Real Blogging Journey” not because I am a blogging expert – but because I want to learn from you and my own mistakes.
This is not a guide full of textbook tips or recycled tutorials. This is my raw, honest story of starting a blog, struggling, failing, learning, growing, and finally seeing small victories.

If you are a beginner, curious about blogging, or even someone who has already started but feels lost – this series might hit home for you.
I will be sharing
- My mistakes (yes, so many!)
- Things I wish I knew before
- Decisions I made that I got right
- Questions I asked myself
- What tools I used
- How much money I spent
- And the real truth behind this journey that no one tells you.
This marks the start of a blog series – a sort of open letter to all those who want to blog, grow and earn – but don’t know where to begin or feel stuck in the middle.
Let’s get real.
Starting a blog: From idea to first step
My journey into blogging didn’t start with a grand vision or the right topic. It started with confusion. I loved to travel. And I wanted to share my travels. But then I knew that the only way I could share my travels was through videos on YouTube.
I wasn’t an extrovert enough to get in front of a camera and make videos. I probably still am not. So I decided to start blogging. Because I had to find a way to share my travels.
Then I searched on Google and got the answer: start a blog.
So I did — but not before I made these classic beginner mistakes
- Choosing the wrong blogging platform
- Using a free theme that wasn’t SEO friendly
- Writing without any keyword research
- Ignoring mobile design
- Thinking people would magically find my blog
- And yes… giving up too early (more than once)

But every time I failed, I came back — with a little more clarity. That’s why I call it the “real blogging journey” — because it’s messy, human, and far from perfect. I’m still not successful, so I’ll keep making mistakes and sharing them with you.
What this series will cover (and why you’ll love it)
Here are the main topics this blogging series will cover – real things I’ve faced
How I started blogging with no knowledge
Details of my first few weeks – from domain name to WordPress setup.
My biggest blogging mistakes
Writing without purpose
Not using tools at the beginning
Skipping keyword research
What I learned from failing over and over again
Failures = the best teachers. I’ll explain how each failure taught me a valuable blogging lesson.
Can you really make money blogging?
I asked myself this for months. I’ll explain what works, what doesn’t, and how income slowly builds up.
Bloggers earn in different ways
From ads, affiliate marketing, sponsored content, digital products – and how each works.
Blogging expenses you should expect
Domain, hosting, themes, plugins, tools – a realistic description of what I spent (and what I wasted money on).
Blogging platforms: the journey from Blogger to WordPress
Why I chose it, what I like, what I don’t like.
Choosing the right theme: looks vs SEO
The mistake I made, and how changing themes affected my rankings.
My self-learning process
I didn’t buy courses. I watched free videos, read blogs, tried and failed. This is for other self-teachers.
Real blog growth tips that worked for me
No theories – just real things I did and what worked. From content consistency to internal linking.
Google Search Console and Analytics for beginners
How I figured out what was working and what wasn’t.
Writing blog posts that rank
My experiments with SEO, title structure, headers and keywords.
Common blogging myths I busted
Like: “Write good content and people will come” — spoiler: they won’t. Why would they read this blog if it won’t reach them.
Creating a blogging routine after office hours
I work a full-time job (8am to 8pm). I’ll share how I created the time, energy and mindset for blogging.
And much more.
Blogging things I Personally Use
Here are some products I use or recommend to bloggers, especially beginners:
- Laptop for blogging on a budget
- Comfortable laptop table for late-night writing
- External hard drive for storing blog data
- Noise-canceling headphones for focusing
It’s not just me sharing – we’re learning together
I want this blogging series to be interactive.
You may have better solutions to the problems I faced. You may have made different mistakes. You may have learned faster than me.
So feel free to
- Comment on the blog
- Share your input
- Suggest topics for upcoming posts
- Help me out – so I can help more people with your perspective
It’s not just about me teaching. It’s about growing together – like a real blogging community.
Why I choose to be honest about my blogging journey
Let’s get real — blogging content on the internet is mostly like this:
- Make ₹1 lakh per month from your blog
- Just follow these 3 steps to success
- Buy this course and you’ll be ranked #1
But when I actually got into blogging, I realized that most of those promises don’t work. Especially for people like me — who start blogging as a side hustle after a full-time job, with zero background in tech or marketing.
So instead of pretending to teach others, I decided to be completely honest.
This blog series is my attempt to
- Share real experiences
- Talk about what didn’t work
- Tell about what slowly started working
This space is for real people who are okay with slow growth, trial and error, and long-term results.
The beginning of my real blogging journey
I didn’t come from a digital marketing background. I wasn’t tech-savvy. I loved Blogger because it was free so I never looked at any other platform. But something inside me kept saying – you have stories, you just need a better place to tell them.
Blogging became that place.
I started my blog because I wanted to capture my journey whether it was through writing or making videos. I liked the idea that maybe; just maybe, someone else could read my journey and feel something – inspired, prepared, or even relieved that they aren’t alone.

Solving the confusions I faced
Before starting this blog, I had these doubts constantly in my mind:
- Which platform should I use — WordPress, Blogger, Wix, Ghost?
- Free themes or paid themes — does it even affect rankings?
- Do I need to learn coding?
- What if no one reads my blog?
- Can I earn without Google Adsense?
- Do affiliate links really work?
And trust me — I have googled them all. Some answers helped. Some created more confusion.
So this series will be about real trial and error. Not theory.
Why I am sharing this publicly
- Because most bloggers hide their failures.
- Because no one told me how hard it would be or that there were no limits.
- Because growth without guidance feels lonely.
- Because you shouldn’t feel like you are struggling alone. I am in this struggle myself so I am sharing my experience with all of you so that I can get your feedback about my mistakes and suggestions to improve myself.
If I can share what I did wrong and what I did right – maybe I can help some people avoid the same pain. And if I am still making mistakes, maybe you can guide me. Maybe we can all move forward together.
This series is for learners, fighters, and dreamers – not “overnight successes”.
What to expect in upcoming blogs in this series
Each blog post in this series will cover one major topic, explained in-depth with examples.

- How I got my first organic visitors
- A breakdown of my yearly blogging expenses
- How I improved my blog design without hiring anyone
- Real ways to monetize a blog (with or without ads)
